Barcelona missed the chance to move top of La Liga on Saturday after losing 1-0 at home to Malaga.

The only goal of the match came after seven minutes, with Juanmi registering for the impressive visitors, who ended a run of 12 straight league defeats at the Camp Nou.

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at how each individual player performed during the Spanish affair.

BARCELONA

Goal

Claudio Bravo: Was stitched up by Dani Alves for the winning goal, but the Chilean made a couple of smart saves in the second period. Cannot really be blamed for his team's struggles. (6/10)

Defence

Dani Alves: Had an absolute horror for Malaga's winner - selling Bravo short with a volleyed back-pass. Struggled to recover from that terrible moment after just seven minutes. (4/10)

Gerard Pique: Found Malaga's interchanging front three difficult to control in the first period, but settled down in the second. Picked up a booking 10 minutes from time. (6/10)

Jeremy Mathieu: A surprise starter alongside Pique, with Javier Mascherano left on the bench. Decent defensively, but did not offer too much in possession of the ball. (6/10)

Jordi Alba: Usually such a threat in the final third, but the Spaniard's delivery was very disappointing. Also picked up a late booking for dissent as frustration grew. (6/10)

Midfield

Andres Iniesta: Struggled to make his mark at the Camp Nou. Had a couple of half-chances in the first period, but could not find the back of the net despite his best efforts. (6/10)

Sergio Busquets: The deepest of the Barca midfield, but did not really have an influence in the final third. Tidy in possession, but little else. (5/10)

Rafinha: Given the nod ahead of Ivan Rakitic in midfield, but did little to justify his selection. Usually so classy in possession, he did not make an impact in this one. (5/10)

Attack

Neymar: Had a shot cleared off the line in the first period, but had little else in terms of chances. (6/10)

Luis Suarez: A real off-day for the striker. Started fairly brightly as he caused problems in the final third, but faded badly as the match progressed. (5/10)

Lionel Messi: Quite comfortably Barca's biggest threat throughout the match, but the Argentine could not make the breakthrough despite his best efforts. (7/10)

Substitutes

Ivan Rakitic: Replaced Rafinha just past the hour, but made little impact. (5/10)

Pedro: Barca's resident substitute replaced Iniesta after 67 minutes, but the Spaniard could not make his mark this time. Found it difficult to break through the Malaga defence. (5/10)

Javier Mascherano: Replaced Alves after 73 minutes as Barca went with three at the back, but the change in shape could not alter the scoreline. (5/10)

MALAGA

Goal

Carlos Kameni: Was not as busy as he might have been, but still made a number of superb saves. Was unorthodox at times, but it certainly worked for the Cameroon international. (7/10)

Defence

Roberto Rosales: Would have been forgiven for not venturing forward, but the full-back was prepared to attack and defend in equal measure. (8/10)

Marcos Angeleri: Alongside the immovable Weligton, Angeleri had a great match. Excellent aerially and calm on the deck. (8/10)

Weligton: Had an absolute worldie at the heart of the defence. Made a number of excellent clearances and was always in the right place at the right time. (9/10)

Miguel Torres: Made a couple of crucial blocks in the first period and played his part in what was a truly superb defensive performance from Javi Gracia's side. (8/10)

Midfield

Samu Castillejo: Not too involved in the final third, but was a willing runner in a wide area. Always on hand to help out his back four when needed. (7/10)

Sergi Darder: Malaga face a tough task to keep the Spaniard on a long-term basis and his stock would have further risen with a super midfield performance at the Camp Nou. (8/10)

Recio: Sat in front of his back four alongside Darder and swept things up very nicely indeed. Not flashy, but did exactly what was needed for the visitors. (7/10)

Samuel Garcia: Had the intelligence to drop back when needed, but was also prepared to help out in the final third. A very disciplined display from the Spaniard. (7/10)

Ricardo Horta: Had a couple of excellent chances towards the end of the first period, but could not score a second for Malaga. Remained a threat during his 79 minutes on the field. (7/10)

Attack

Juanmi: Showed excellent awareness, pace and composure to win the match, but lasted just five minutes into the second period after picking up an injury. (8/10)

Substitutes

Juanpi: Replaced Juanmi early in the second period. Did not have much of an impact in terms of opportunities, but offered an out ball in the latter stages. (6/10)

Duda: Used all of his experience to win some vital free kicks and settle things down during his 10-minute cameo. (6/10)

Arthur Boka: Only given the final five minutes, but did well to pick up the pace of the match. (6/10)
