German qualifier Daniel Brands produced a stunning display to defeat Gael Monfils in straight sets in the Qatar Open quarter-finals.
Brands, who had defeated fifth seed Jeremy Chardy in the opening round, swept to the first set, allowing Monfils just one game.
Monfils improved in the second set as he moved into a 3-0 lead, but Brands fought back to level at 5-5.
Brands broke the Frenchman's serve to move a game away from victory and he served out the match in confident fashion to seal a place in the semi-finals with a 6-1 7-5 triumph.
