Frenchman Gael Monfils booked his place in round three of the Qatar Open thanks to a three-set victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber this afternoon.
Monfils, currently 74 in the world, claimed an early break of his German opponent's serve to help him wrap up the opening set 6-4.
However, world number 20 Kohlschreiber reacted positively in the second set and recorded two breaks of his own to win through 6-2 and in doing so forced a deciding third set.
Just as he had in the first set, Monfils required only one break of serve to claim a 6-4 success and book his place in the next round.
He will now take on Daniel Brands for a place in the quarter-finals.
