Arjen Robben claims that "internal issues" contributed to the Netherlands' exit from Euro 2012.

Netherlands and Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has hinted that there has been unrest between the players in the squad, which may have contributed to the Dutch side's downfall at Euro 2012.

Bert van Marjwik's side crashed out of the tournament at the group stage following a 2-1 defeat to Portugal last night.

"Of course there were some internal issues but we will keep them indoors," Robben told Voetbal International. "But believe me we tried everything, it's just not worked.

"The hunger in the team is there but we failed together. And I mean the technical staff, the players, the whole team. This is the harsh reality of the sporting world. We must all, therefore, look in the mirror."

Holland failed to clinch a single point throughout the tournament and were pushed out by Group B qualifiers Germany and Portugal.
