Garbine Muguruza has sealed a place in the semi-finals of the WTA Championships in Singapore by beating Petra Kvitova 6-4 4-6 7-5 in the White Group.

Kvitova faced a strong attack from her opponent in the first game of the opening set as Muguruza reached break point three times, but the two-time Wimbledon champion managed to hold serve.
Both players dropped serve, but Muguruza grabbed a crucial break point, which was enough to give her a one-set lead and a place in the semi-finals.
The two competitors struggled on serve in the second set as they both lost their opening service games.
The momentum swung back and forth as Kvitova and Muguruza could only hold serve once each before the set was level at 4-4.
After tussling on the court, it was Kvitova who grabbed a crucial break to win the set before taking a 2-0 lead at the beginning of the deciding set.
Muguruza managed to bounce back with a break of her own, but both players later lost serve to provide a tense finish to the clash, which was nicely poised at 4-4.

Kvitova still has a chance of reaching the semi-finals, but if Angelique Kerber wins a set against Lucie Safarova, then the Czech will be out.
