Tommy Robredo has reached the second round of the Paris Masters thanks to a three-set victory over Vasek Pospisil.
Robredo's disappointment of losing to Andy Murray in Sunday's Valencia Open final looked to be a distant memory early on as the Spaniard broke serve and saved three break points on his way to taking the first set 6-3.
However, Canadian world number 54 Pospisil worked hard to find a break midway through the second before closing it out 6-4.
There was little to separate the two men in the decider as service breaks were exchanged to force a tie-break, but it was Robredo who eventually came through 6-3 4-6 7-6(5) to set up a meeting with sixth seed Kei Nishikori.
