Victoria Azarenka has moved into the third round of the French Open with a straight-sets victory over Annika Beck.
The world number three began strongly, breaking her German opponent three times to open up a 5-0 lead. However, Beck prevented Azarenka from clinching the set on her serve, breaking twice as she won the next four games to make the score 5-4.
In the final game of the set the German failed to capitalise on two more break points, allowing Azarenka to clinch it with her second set point.
Azarenka continued her dominance, breaking twice to establish a 4-1 lead early in the second set. Beck threatened another fightback when she broke for 4-2, but Azarenka won the next three games to wrap up the set 6-3.
The Belarusian will play either Alize Cornet or Silvia Soler-Espinosa in the third round.
