Stuart Lancaster: 'England must focus on own fate'

Stuart Lancaster admits that England cannot worry about Ireland's game with France on Sunday and must focus on their own match with Italy.

England head coach Stuart Lancaster has urged his players to focus on their own games in the hunt for the Six Nations title, ahead of their last match of the tournament against Italy on Saturday.

Lancaster's side must beat Italy comfortably and hope for a big France win over Ireland on Sunday, but Lancaster said that the first thing is to secure the victory that they need in Rome.

"[Focusing on our game] is the priority, we went there two years ago and it was different conditions and different evolution of our team at that point," Sky Sports News quotes Lancaster as saying. "It was very difficult.

"When you look at the Scotland game 21-20, you look at them beating France last year in the Six Nations, Ireland struggled, Wales struggled two years ago. Australia struggled in 2012 22-19, even New Zealand that year it was a 44-10 win for New Zealand, but only through three tries in the last few minutes. It's not an easy place to go and get a lot of points.

"It's a fantastic opportunity to finish the Six Nations on a high point. We want to make sure we put in a performance that backs up the previous performances so far and that's a big motivation for the players."

England last won the Six Nations in 2011.
