New York 1-0 New England

Theirry Henry scores to secure a 1-0 win New York Red Bulls in the home encounter with New England Revolution.

New York Red Bulls have closed the gap on DC United in the MLS Eastern Conference with a 1-0 win over New England Revolution.

The only goal of the game came after just six minutes, when Thierry Henry beat Matt Reis with a right-footed shot from outside the box.

Dax McCarty nearly made it two six minutes later when Thierry Henry swung in a corner from the left, but McCarty saw his effort hit the post.

Benny Feilhaber had two late chances to snatch a point for New England, but he found Ryan Meara in inspired form in the New York goal.

Meara was also equal to Lee Nguyen's effort in the second minute of added on time to ensure the home side came away with the points.
