Andres Iniesta thanks Real Madrid fans for ovation

Andres Iniesta thanks Real Madrid fans for their warm applause towards him in Barcelona's 4-0 El Clasico triumph.

Andres Iniesta has thanked Real Madrid supporters for the positive reception he received in Barcelona's 4-0 win at Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spanish midfielder was influential throughout the latest edition of El Clasico, and a fine display included an excellent goal to put his side 3-0 up early in the second half.

Iniesta was given a standing ovation by many Real fans when he was removed late on, and the World Cup winner was grateful on a perfect evening for Barcelona.

"I want to thank the fans," he told Canal Plus.

"We feel very good, we played a complete game in every way. We gave them very few chances, we hardly lost the ball. We were very effective.

"The other day I said that the only thing we were interested in is ourselves. We've done it and we minimised our opponent."

Barcelona are now six points clear of Real at the top of La Liga.
