Scottish Championship Roundup: Rangers keep pace with Hearts

Wins for Rangers and Hearts keep the race for the Scottish Championship title close.

Rangers put four past a lame Falkirk at Ibrox to keep pace with league leaders Hearts, who scraped past Raith Rovers by a single goal.

Falkirk managed to keep the game goalless until the 25th minute when David Templeton fed Nicky Law, who made no mistake with his shot. After the break, Lewis Macleod, Kenny Miller and Nicky Clark added their names to the scoresheet as the Glasgow giants continue to keep the pressure on Robbie Neilson's men at the summit.

It was Alim Ozturk who put Hearts in front after five minutes at Tynecastle, but, despite their superior possession, the result was never really safe at 1-0 and the Edinburgh side were glad when referee Crawford Allan brought the game to a conclusion.

It was a good day for Queen Of The South who kept their hopes of promotion alive with a 3-0 win over Dumbarton. Goals for John Baird, Mark Durnan and Derek Lyle mean the Doonhamers stay third.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Hibernian and Alloa Athletic, the latter jumping out of the relegation zone after a tight win over Livingston.

Results in full: Rangers 4-0 Falkirk, Hearts 1-0 Raith Rovers, Queen of the South 3-0 Dumbarton, Alloa Athletic 1-0 Livingston, Cowdenbeath 1-2 Hibernian
