Result: Racing Santander 0-1 Espanyol

Sergio Garcia scores the only goal of the game to hand Espanyol all three points against Racing Santander this evening.

Sergio Garcia scored the only goal of the game in La Liga's early evening kick-off as Espanyol claimed victory away at Racing Santander.

In a tightly-contested opening 45 minutes, hosts Racing created the best opportunity. Veteran striker Pedro Munitis crossed for Christian Stuani, who sent a header towards the top corner of the net. However, visiting goalkeeper Cristian Álvarez got across his line to tip the ball wide of goal.

The goal that would eventually prove to be the winner came just after the hour mark. Striker Garcia was the scorer, collecting a pass from Joan Verdu before dispatching his shot past Tono.

In response both Adrian and Pape Diop spurned chances to draw Racing level as the away side from Barcelona held on to take all three points.
