Sepp Blatter 'maintains decision to step down as FIFA president'

FIFA announce that Sepp Blatter has not had a change of heart about stepping down as president, despite reports stating otherwise.

FIFA has calmed speculation that Sepp Blatter may run for the presidency again.

The 79-year-old's former election advisor Klaus Stoehlker reportedly stated that Blatter could run again if a 'convincing' candidate does not come forward.

However, a statement released by FIFA has claimed that Blatter has not had a change of heart following his decision to resign earlier this month.

The statement added that Blatter "would like to point" to the announcement that he made when he offered to relinquish the presidency.

A new leader is expected to be elected in December.
