Newcastle United have confirmed that Florian Thauvin has rejoined Marseille on loan until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old winger moved to the Premier League side last August for a reported fee of £12m and has since made 13 league appearances for the Magpies, 10 of them as a substitute.
In a statement confirming the deal, the club said: "Newcastle United winger Florian Thauvin has returned to Marseille on loan until the end of the season.
"There is no option for purchase within the deal, so Thauvin will return to Newcastle at the end of the loan."
Thauvin leaves the North-East with the side two points from safety in the relegation zone of the Premier League.
