Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that Manuel Neuer and David de Gea are currently the best two goalkeepers in world football.
German international Neuer joined Bayern Munich from Schalke 04 in 2011 and is widely considered to be the best stopper in European football.
De Gea, meanwhile, has developed into one of the top goalkeepers in the world since joining Manchester United from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
Ferguson has said that the pair are the goalkeeping equivalent of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
"Neuer and De Gea are the best goalkeepers in the world," Kicker quote Ferguson as saying. "And by quite some distance as well. You have Messi and Ronaldo as outfield players and then Neuer and De Gea as the goalkeepers' equivalent."
Ferguson reportedly tried to sign Neuer in 2011, before agreeing a deal to bring De Gea to Old Trafford.
