Feyenoord quell claims that Manchester City striker John Guidetti could return to the club this season.

Feyenoord technical director Martin van Geel has dampened suggestions that Manchester City striker John Guidetti could return to the club this season.

It had been reported on Wednesday that the 20-year-old was close to agreeing a new long-term contract with City – with a view to another loan move in Holland.

However, Van Geel told reporters: "At the last moment, anything can happen but we are not assuming the return of John is realistic. We do not know what City want - and besides, he needs time to recover from his injury."

Guidetti scored 20 goals in 23 league games for the Dutch club last season.
