Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski has revealed that he had held talks with Liverpool over a move to Anfield before opting for the San Paolo Stadium.
Jurgen Klopp had reportedly made a £9.5m bid for the Poland international, but the 22-year-old ended up remaining in Italy instead, making the switch from fellow Serie A side Udinese.
"With Liverpool, there were talks but it didn't happen," Zielinski told Polish news outlet Sportowefakty.
"But I'm happy to be at Napoli. They're one of the best teams for a 22-year-old to join. Looking at their style of play and my qualities, I couldn't have made a better choice."
Zielinski had joined Udinese in 2011 but failed to work his way into the first team on a regular basis and spent the last two years on loan at Empoli.
