Alan Pardew: 'Hatem Ben Arfa can be our Luis Suarez'

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew believes that midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa can have the same impact on Tyneside as Luis Suarez has had at Liverpool.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has admitted that Liverpool's Luis Suarez is an "outstanding talent".

The Uruguayan forward has had a huge impact at Anfield since he moved to the club in 2011, and Pardew has revealed that he has encouraged playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa to have a similar impact on Tyneside.

Pardew told the Newcastle Chronicle: "Suarez is an outstanding talent. There is no doubt about that. I think you have to see how many chances he creates and how many things he does in a game.

"You could do a highlights show for him after every game.

"I've been talking to Hatem about trying to have the same impact that Luis is having. We're looking at our own assets and we want them to worry about us."

Ben Arfa and Suarez are expected to face each other when Liverpool play Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.
