Rene Girard urges Lille to find clinical edge in front of goal

Manager Rene Girard is keen to see Lille improve in front of goal ahead of Sunday's trip to Rennes.

Manager Rene Girard has urged his Lille side to find a cutting edge to their play ahead of Sunday's clash with Rennes in Ligue 1.

Lille have only scored twice in their previous five Ligue 1 games, and failed to find the back of the net once again in Thursday's draw with Everton in the Europa League, but Girard believes that there has been very little else wrong with their performances recently.

"We need to score," the Lille boss told reporters. "I'm not really sure that we need to be more dangerous exactly, I am relatively happy with the football we are producing.

"But in the end we lacked the goals we needed to win [on Thursday night] and, in football, goals decide everything."

Lille have won just once in their past five meetings with Rennes.
