Claudio Ranieri "very happy" to take charge of Leicester City

Claudio Ranieri praises the commitment of his players and coaching staff as he prepares to embark on a new journey as Leicester City manager.

Claudio Ranieri has said that he is "very excited" to have made a return to club management with Leicester City.

The 63-year-old was officially appointed as Foxes boss last week on a three-year deal.

Having taken charge of his first training session at the club's training ground earlier today, Ranieri is now relishing the chance to get going following a disappointing stint as Greece manager.

"I'm very excited to start a new season," he told reporters. "Leicester is a great club in England and I'm very happy to be here. Today at the training ground was amazing.

"There are so many people working hard for Leicester and the players are so strong. They work hard with passion and heart. Not only the players, but the staff here too.

"We must continue to build a solid foundation, then start to improve. I will improve the players tactically too."

Ranieri, who was axed as manager of Chelsea in 2004, must now prepare his new side for their Premier League opener against Sunderland on August 8.
