Leicester City appoint Claudio Ranieri

Leicester City announce the arrival of Claudio Ranieri as their new first-team manager.

Leicester City have appointed Claudio Ranieri as their new manager on a three-year deal.

The Italian takes over from Nigel Pearson, who was surprisingly dismissed last month following three-and-a-half years at the club.

Ranieri boasts plenty of experience, having previously taken charge of Valencia, Parma, Juventus, Roma, Inter Milan and Monaco.

A Copa del Rey winner with Valencia in 1999, the 63-year-old saw his last foray in English football end in disappointment as he was shown the door by Chelsea 11 years ago.

Ranieri, who has been out of work since being dismissed as Greece national team boss last November, revealed last week that he would be open to replacing Pearson at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester have now confirmed the news, with the experienced tactician due to join up with his new side in Austria.

The Foxes kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Sunderland on August 8.
