Everton's Leighton Baines eyeing League Cup success

Everton defender Leighton Baines believes that his side are capable of lifting the Capital One Cup as well as moving further up the Premier League table this season.

Everton defender Leighton Baines has targeted success in the Capital One Cup following his side's progression into the semi-finals of the competition.

The 30-year-old returned to the pitch for the first time since the end of May after struggling with an ankle injury when he replaced Brendan Galloway in his side's 2-0 victory over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Baines believes that his side can now kick on in the tournament as well as continue to rise up the Premier League table.

"We're excited about where we are at the moment and we're looking forward," Baines told the club's official website. "This run is something we're all excited about - you could see that in the way we played and the support we brought up.

"There are no easy rides and we are prepared for that. We are made up to be in the [semi-final] draw. We're not far off from where we want to be in the league as well.

"We're a few good results away from getting back in the mix for the European positions and there's no better time to hit form than now over the Christmas period."

Everton last won silverware in 1995 when they lifted the FA Cup.
