Bayern Munich chief admits Chelsea-linked David Alaba will leave

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge reveals that David Alaba is set to leave the German club .

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed that David Alaba is set to leave the German club.

The 28-year-old, who has been linked with several teams across Europe including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, has a contract which expires on June 30, 2021 and the versatile defender can negotiate with other clubs from January 1.

Bayern have held talks with Alaba and his representatives about a new deal, however they have yet to reach an agreement and Rummenigge seems to have accepted that the Austrian will now leave.

"Bayern did everything we could to try and reach an agreement. We had a lot of conversations, but we wanted answers from him by the end of October. This didn't happen and I don't know if we'll return to the negotiations," Rummenigge told MARCA.

"What I want to be clear about is that our offer showed exactly how much we value him, but he didn't accept it."

Rummenigge also stated that he "[does not] know anything about the Real Madrid rumours" and is unaware of any clubs interested in signing Alaba on a free transfer.

Alaba, who joined Bayern Munich from Austria Wien in 2008, has made over 400 appearances for the club, winning nine Bundesliga titles as well as two Champions League trophies.
