Report: Tottenham Hotspur's Mousa Dembele facing 10-match ban

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele may be banned for 10 matches for an alleged eye gouge on Chelsea frontman Diego Costa.

The Football Association has reportedly considered dishing out a 10-game suspension to Mousa Dembele.

The potential punishment is in relation to the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder's alleged deliberate eye gouge on Chelsea striker Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

It is believed that the incident, which occurred during a scuffle between the two sides, was missed by match referee Mark Clattenburg and his assistants.

As a result, it is expected that the game's governing body will now intervene with retrospective action.

According to The Sun, FA chiefs have classed Dembele's supposed actions in the same bracket as ex-Liverpool striker Luis Suarez's bite on Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in 2013.

The Uruguayan was subsequently banned for 10 matches and the report adds that 28-year-old Dembele could suffer a similar fate.
