Sports Mole rounds up Wednesday night's action from the SPL, where Celtic extended their lead at the top of the table.

Celtic extended their lead at the top of the SPL to 15 points with a thumping win over Kilmarnock at Celtic Park.

Despite Joe Ledley's opener just before the break, the visitors equalised early in the second half through Cillian Sheridan.

However, two goals from Adam Matthews either side of an Anthony Stokes strike secured the victory for Neil Lennon's side.

The Glasgow outfit increased their advantage at the top of the table after Inverness Caledonian Thistle slumped to a 2-1 defeat at St Mirren.

Steven Thompson netted the winner eight minutes from time after a Billy McKay penalty had cancelled out Esmael Goncalves's opener.

Elsewhere, St Johnstone leapfrogged Aberdeen into fifth after a 3-1 win at McDiarmid Park.

Goals from Gregory Tade, Rowan Vine and Dave Mackay led the hosts to victory, after Niall McGinn had levelled for the visitors, who slip a place to sixth.

Ross County caused a shock as they edged out fourth-placed Hibernian 1-0 at Victoria Park thanks to a first-half effort from Ivan Sproule.

Finally, John Sutton scored the winner just four minutes from time to give Hearts a narrow 1-0 win over bottom of the table Dundee.

Results in full: St Johnstone 3-1 Aberdeen, Celtic 4-1 Kilmarnock, Hearts 1-0 Dundee, Ross County 1-0 Hibernian, St Mirren 2-1 Inverness
