Yeovil Town have registered a 2-1 victory over Brentford at London's Wembley Stadium in the League One playoff final to gain promotion to the Championship.

Gary Johnson's side surged ahead as early as the sixth minute when Patrick Madden fired home from outside the box after collecting a loose ball.

It became 2-0 to Yeovil four minutes before the half-time interval when Daniel Burn headed home Edward Upson's corner from close range.

Brentford gave themselves a lifeline when they halved the deficit just six minutes into the second half, Harlee Dean turning in Adam Forshaw's corner with his head.

Marek Stech stopped Uwe Rosler's side from restoring parity just after the hour mark when he kept out Clayton Donaldson's close-range header.

The Yeovil goalkeeper was called into action again on 68 minutes when Forshaw tested him.

The Bees pressed on for the equaliser during the remainder of the match but failed to prevent Yeovil from getting promoted to the Championship.
