Mikel Arteta confirms that "discussions" are taking place over Arsenal's plans for the January transfer window.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that discussions have been held over plans for the January transfer window.

The Gunners are enjoying a rich vein of form in the Premier League and could leapfrog West Ham United into fourth place with victory over Manchester United this evening.

Arsenal are supposedly keen to bolster their attacking ranks with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette out of contract next summer, though, and Arteta has revealed that talks are taking place internally.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Thursday's meeting with Man United, Arteta said: "We are in discussions. We have talks every week about it, how we can improve the team, and what things can happen in the January transfer window that can affect our squad.

"As you know, we have certain players with a little bit of uncertainty in the summer so we have to plan what's going to happen now and what's going to happen in the summer.

"A lot has to be done, we know and we don't expect big things to be happening, but we need to be very alert in the market to see if we can improve the team.

"We have to be prepared because things can happen and injuries can arise in this period of the season and you have to be prepared and planned."

Nketiah has supposedly rejected Arsenal's offer of a new deal, with the Gunners being linked with the likes of Dusan Vlahovic and Dejan Kulusevski ahead of the winter window.
