Tottenham transfer news: Spurs 'considering move for ex-Chelsea attacker'

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly weigh up a summer move for Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, who they passed up signing last year.

Tottenham Hotspur have supposedly earmarked a former Chelsea winger as a potential signing for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Once heralded as one of the finest talents to emerge from the Cobham academy ranks, Callum Hudson-Odoi failed to live up to his potential at Stamford Bridge, where injuries did not help his cause.

Following a disappointing loan spell with now-German champions Bayer Leverkusen, Hudson-Odoi was sold to Nottingham Forest for just £3m last year, but he has ended up proving a bargain buy.

The England international came up with eight goals from 29 Premier League appearances in the 2023-24 season, including three from his last three appearances to help Forest stay afloat.

Hudson-Odoi's contract at the City Ground runs for another two seasons, but Forest are believed to be under pressure to make significant sales owing to their Financial Fair Play woes.

Tottenham 'change opinion on Hudson-Odoi'

According to The Guardian, the winger's performances have caught the eye of Tottenham, who they were offered the chance to sign last year but turned their noses up to the opportunity.

Instead, the Lilywhites forked out £47m to bring Brennan Johnson to the club, before the addition of Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig in the January transfer window.

Neither Werner nor Johnson truly set North London alight during the 2023-24 season, though, and there is no sign that the Lilywhites intend to trigger the permanent clause in the former's contract.

Thanks to Hudson-Odoi's successful campaign in a Nottingham Forest jersey, the report claims that Tottenham have "changed their opinion" on the ex-Chelsea attacker and are now ready to firm up their interest.

Hudson-Odoi previously struck 16 goals and set up 21 more in 126 appearances for Chelsea over the course of his Blues spell, spending 16 years in West London from 2007 to 2023.

Which other positions are Tottenham targeting this summer?

Due to uncertainty over Werner's future and Manor Solomon's troublesome knee injury, Spurs' desire for new wide men is no secret, but Ange Postecoglou is also targeting reinforcements in defence and the number nine position.

The Lilywhites did not sign a direct replacement for all-time top scorer Harry Kane last summer, and with Alejo Veliz struggling to impose himself on loan at Sevilla, a new marksman should be of the utmost priority.

Hudson-Odoi's Forest teammate Morgan Gibbs-White is believed to be a target for Tottenham in the number nine slot, while as many as four defenders are supposedly being targeted.

Tosin Adarabioyo - set to leave Fulham on a free transfer - was previously linked but apparently turned an offer from Spurs down, potentially out of fear of a lack of game time.

Since joining in January, Radu Dragusin has played just 424 minutes for Postecoglou, who is seemingly not set to deviate from the Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven pairing anytime soon.
