Aston Villa are reportedly sounding out Mauricio Pochettino and Unai Emery over their managerial position, with Steven Gerrard currently under scrutiny.

Aston Villa have reportedly looked into the possibility of appointing Mauricio Pochettino or Unai Emery as the club's manager.

Steven Gerrard's position as Villa boss has come under scrutiny after their opening six league games yielded only one victory.

Although the Villans managed to claim their second win of the Premier League season before the international break, they still reside in 15th place ahead of the weekend's action.

According to Football Insider, the club's owners Naseef Sawiris and Wes Edens have sounded out Pochettino and Emery over the managerial position.

While Gerrard's job is not believed to be under immediate threat, Villa could make a change if results do not improve before the World Cup.

Pochettino is out of work after leaving his role as Paris Saint-Germain boss at the end of last season, while Unai Emery is currently the head coach of Villarreal.

Gerrard will be aiming to guide Villa to consecutive victories when they face Leeds United in Sunday's Premier League contest.
