Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny confirms that he will leave the club at the end of the seasons, bringing a close to his eight-year spell in North London.

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has confirmed that he is leaving the club at the end of the season.

The Egypt international has barely featured for the Gunners during the 2023-24 campaign, making just three Premier League appearances, all from the bench.

Declan Rice's summer arrival from West Ham United and his partnership with Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey has kept Elneny firmly out of the starting XI.

The 31-year-old is currently Arsenal's longest-serving player, having secured a switch from Swiss outfit Basel during the January transfer window of 2016.

Since moving to North London from Switzerland over eight years ago, Elneny has made 161 competitive appearances for the Gunners, scoring six goals.

Arsenal's Elneny confirms Emirates exit

Posted on Friday, Elneny released a statement on social media confirming that he will be ending his eight-year association with the Premier League title-chasers.

"Gooners, I'm here today to send you a message, to say goodbye and thank you for everything you have done for me," said Elneny on a video uploaded to his official X account.

"The love, the support and the kindness. I am really going to miss you so much and you will be in my heart forever.

"I wanted to say how much I love you and how much you mean to me. I will never forget the way you supported me.

"I am going to see you on Sunday at the Emirates to say goodbye face to face, see you then."

Rounding off with silverware?

Heading into the final weekend of the Premier League, Elneny has the opportunity to add an English title to his silverware collection as the Gunners face Everton at home.

Arteta's crop must better the result collected by Manchester City when they face West Ham United at the Etihad to lift a first Premier League in 20 years.

Pep Guardiola's side are looking to secure an unprecedented fourth straight league triumph in England, surpassing the likes of city rivals Manchester United under the reign of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Elneny has only featured in a single minute of Premier League action during 2024, and it is highly unlikely that the Egyptian adds to that tally this weekend.
