West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce is reportedly considering a short-term deal for free agent Ricardo Gardner.
Allardyce worked with the Jamaican international at Bolton Wanderers and is weighing up a move to use the veteran as defensive cover, according to The Mirror.
Gardner made more than 400 appearances for Bolton but has been unattached since his contract expired at the Reebok Stadium last summer.
The Hammers are short in defence and could use Gardner as cover for George McCartney, who is in danger of missing the rest of this season through injury.
The 34-year-old would join former Bolton players such as Joey O'Brien, Matthew Taylor and Kevin Nolan if he signed terms to be reunited with Allardyce in East London.
