Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly beaten Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth.
Spurs had been understood to be closing in on a deal for the 19-year-old centre-back, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to bring in extra cover for Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
The Premier League runners-up offered a deal worth £8.5m, but their strict transfer budget this summer means that they are unable to pay the full fee up front.
PSG, on the other hand, have reportedly submitted a better deal for the club by offering the full £8.5m up front, in addition to significantly better wages for the player.
The Ligue 1 outfit are now expected to make the Argentine youth international their second signing of the summer, following in the footsteps of former Juventus full-back Dani Alves.
Spurs, meanwhile, are the only Premier League club yet to make a signing this summer.
