Dario Gradi has stepped down as the manager of Crewe Alexandra after 1,404 games in charge.
The 70-year-old has said that he will concentrate on the club's academy.
Gradi has overseen a wealth of talent since he was appointed in 1983 including players such as David Platt, Neil Lennon and Robbie Savage.
Assistant coach Steve Davis will take charge of first-team affairs.
The club are currently in 18th place in League Two.
