Edinson Cavani 'opts for Real Madrid move over Manchester City, Chelsea'

Napoli striker Edinson Cavani's father claims that the forward will snub Manchester City and Chelsea for Real Madrid.

Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has decided to snub both Manchester City and Chelsea for a switch to Spanish giants Real Madrid, according to his father Luis.

The Uruguay international has been heavily linked with an exit from the Serie A giants, with his mother yesterday claiming that he is in talks with both City and Real.

Chelsea are also thought to be considering offering Napoli £45m for the services of the in-demand striker.

"Cavani's intention is to play for Real Madrid," Luis Cavani told Spanish newspaper Futboleros. "He is excited about it and is very willing to see it through. He has told the family in private that he wants to join Real Madrid but if he declares it publicly it will annoy Napoli."

Cavani's release clause is believed to be £53.9m.
