Portuguese full-back Fabio Coentrao was left on the verge of tears after seeing his last-minute loan to Manchester United collapse, according to a report.
The 25-year-old was the subject of a late bid on transfer deadline day but, despite initially agreeing to the move, Real Madrid eventually backed out when they could not secure Guilherme Siqueira from Granada.
When news that the move had broken down reached Coentrao, who is currently on international duty, Portuguese paper Record claims that he had to be consoled by both Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to talkSPORT, United boss David Moyes is not planning a return bid in January.
Coentrao joined Real from Benfica for €30m (£25.3m) two years ago.
