Ashley Young suffers shoulder injury

Manchester United winger Ashley Young faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering a shoulder injury against Tottenham Hotspur on New Year's Day.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has revealed that winger Ashley Young suffered a shoulder injury during their game with Tottenham Hotspur on New Year's Day.

Young was hurt after challenging for the ball with Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris during the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford, and Moyes has admitted that the England international will be out "for a time".

Moyes was incensed that the 28-year-old didn't win a penalty for the second-half incident, a decision which he described as "scandalous".

The enforced spell in the stands comes as a blow for Young, who had shown signs in recent weeks of recapturing the form that had earned him a £17m move to Manchester United.
