Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane agrees with UEFA's decision to allow John Terry to lift the Champions League trophy should Chelsea beat Bayern Munich tonight.

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane is pleased that John Terry will be allowed to publicly lift the Champions League trophy if Chelsea are victorious against Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena this evening.

Keane was denied that honour as he was suspended for Manchester United's 1999 final win, but UEFA have confirmed that they would allow Terry to lift the trophy despite his ban.

"I think it's only right if Chelsea win that John Terry gets up straight away and lifts it for the first time," said Keane. "He's captain of the club and deserves it."

"We lifted it half an hour later [after the 2-1 win in 1999] and it was nice but I don't think United did anything at all [to ask]. I don't think it crossed our minds at all. The priority was for the team to win and the bonus is always lifting the trophy so I thought, 'don't worry too much about it'.

"But I wouldn't begrudge John Terry the chance if they win on Saturday to pick the trophy up."

Terry has won the Premier League three times, the League Cup twice and the FA Cup on five occasions.
