David Luiz, Gary Cahill on course for Champions League return

Chelsea defenders David Luiz and Gary Cahill are on course to shake off injuries in time for the Champions League final.

Chelsea defenders David Luiz and Gary Cahill are on course to recover from injuries in time for the Champions League final.

The centre-backs are expected to return to the Blues lineup for the crucial game against Bayern Munich on May 19, the Daily Mail reports.

Cahill has not played since damaging a hamstring in the club's Champions League semi-final second-leg victory over Barcelona, but resumed ball work this week.

Luiz, who picked up an injury in the 5-1 FA Cup semi-final win over Tottenham Hotspur, is also making progress.

The pair are expected to stand in for suspended duo John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic in the Bayern clash.

Chelsea must win the game to secure a place in next season's Champions League. Failure to qualify will cost the club an estimated £50m.
