Peter Odemwingie thinks that Roy Hodgson's ability to get the best out of "average" teams will help the 64-year-old bring success to the English national team.

West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie is confident that former manager Roy Hodgson will get the best out of England.

The 64-year-old was appointed the permanent coach of the national team, who Odemwingie believes have been poor in recent years.

"The results England have expected from the team they have not been getting for the past 10 or 15 years, so he is known for getting the best out of even an average team," Odemwingie told Sky Sports News.

"I am not saying England are an average team but they are not winning the World Cup and the Euros so they are not the best, and they might need what Roy Hodgson can offer.

"We learned a lot from him. To be honest I would say he did play more defensive football, but it was a pleasure working with him because he did give some tips."

Hodgson will finish the season with the Baggies next weekend before preparing for the Three Lions' campaign at the European Championships.
