David Luiz: 'Chelsea offered me new contract'

David Luiz says that he turned down a contract extension from Chelsea in order to move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz has claimed that he rejected an offer of a new contract from Chelsea.

The Brazilian international left the Blues in the summer for a reported fee of £50m and has admitted that he is glad to have made the move to the French champions.

"I was happy with the plan PSG offered me and I think it was exactly the right moment to move," The Mirror quotes him as saying.

"Chelsea also offered me a new contract but it was my choice to come here.

"I was playing for a big club like Chelsea and now I've got opportunity to play for another big club. I'm enjoying it here."

Luiz was in action for PSG during his side's 1-1 draw with Monaco on Sunday evening.
