Chelsea's chief executive Ron Gourlay has revealed that the club have held talks with Didier Drogba over a new contract.
The Ivory Coast international's current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and as a result he will be available for a free transfer.
However, Gourlay has revealed that both parties are now in discussions to prevent that from happening.
"We're always talking to Didier [about a new deal], Didier loves Chelsea and we love Didier," said Gourlay.
"We will continue to have the conversations and we'll see where that goes and as soon as we've got anything to say we'll let you know."
Drogba joined the Blues from Marseille in 2004.
