Paul Ince: 'My sacking contributed to Thomas Ince exit from Blackpool'

Former Blackpool boss Paul Ince believes that his sacking was a major factor in son Thomas Ince's decision to leave the Tangerines for Crystal Palace last month.

Former Blackpool boss Paul Ince has suggested that his sacking was a major factor in his son Thomas Ince's decision to leave the Tangerines last month.

The winger, 22, joined Premier League side Crystal Palace on loan on transfer deadline day, just over a week after his father had been dismissed as manager.

"It must be hard when your dad has been texted to say he's been sacked," Ince Sr told Sky Sports News. "I was actually on a course so I didn't know it had happened until my wife told me.

"She wondered why I was in a good mood. It wasn't nice and it wasn't the best way to do it. I had a good relationship with Karl Oyston and to do it that way wasn't the right way, for me.

"I don't like the window and Tom made his decision to go to Palace at about 10.30 that evening. To ask a kid to make a decision like that in such a short space of time is difficult."

Palace are expected to hand Ince his debut in next Saturday's clash with West Bromwich Albion.
