Report: Barcelona want Marquinhos

Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos emerges as Barcelona's leading transfer target for this summer, according to a report.

Barcelona have reportedly identified Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Marquinhos as their leading defensive target for this summer.

The Brazilian international has made 28 appearances for his French club this season and more than 100 in total since making the move from Roma in 2013.

The 21-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Paris in the last couple of transfer windows, however, and according to AS, Barcelona are confident of completing a deal at the end of the campaign.

The same report claims that 'preliminary negotiations' for the defender, who is contracted to PSG until the summer of 2018, started last month.

Barcelona had been strongly linked with a move for Bayern Munich's David Alaba, but the 23-year-old signed a new long-term contract at the Allianz Arena earlier this month.
