Harry Winks has revealed his delight after agreeing to a new three-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur.
The 19-year-old made his senior debut for the club last term before featuring in their post-season tour, and he is hopeful of continuing to improve under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino as he looks to follow the likes of Nabil Bentaleb, Ryan Mason and Harry Kane into the first team.
"I was one, maybe two weeks into my holiday and relaxing in Mexico when I got the call to say that the club was offering me a new contract – as you can imagine, it was great to hear that news," he told the club's website.
"I was over the moon when I was told. It didn't quite sink in straight away, but when everything settled down again I was delighted.
"For me, it's just about taking it a step at a time, month-by-month. It's fantastic to sign a new contract now, but I've still got a long way to go. I need to keep working hard and try to prove myself every day."
Bentaleb has also committed his future to Spurs, with the club confirming on Monday that the Algerian had signed a five-year contract.
