Joey Barton: 'Juventus's Massimiliano Allegri out-coached Mauricio Pochettino'

Joey Barton says that Massimiliano Allegri 'out-coached' Mauricio Pochettino in Juventus's Champions League last-16 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Joey Barton has claimed that Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri 'out-coached' Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino in this evening's Champions League last-16 tie.

The North London outfit dominated the first half before the Italian giants secured an impressive turnaround to progress into the quarter-finals.

Son Heung-min's 39th-minute goal put Tottenham in a commanding position at Wembley as the hosts led the tie 3-2, but inside three minutes in the second half, Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala scored to earn Juve a 4-3 triumph.

Barton believes that Allegri's decision to switch his team's formation to 4-4-2 was the factor that turned things around for the Italian club.

The former Manchester City midfielder tweeted: "Max Allegri just straight up out coached Poch in the 2nd half. Shift to a back 4 throw Spurs and allowed Juve to steal the momentum. Then the big game experience shone through after that. Spurs should improve for the experience."

Juventus join Real Madrid, Liverpool and Man City in the final eight, with the remaining four teams to be decided next week.
