Agent: 'Forest job would interest Keane'

Roy Keane's representative claims that the Irishman would be interested in becoming the new manager of his former club Nottingham Forest.

Roy Keane's representative has revealed that the Irishman would be interested in becoming the new manager of Nottingham Forest.

The Tricky Trees have been searching for a new manager since the club's new owners opted to sack Steve Cotterill last week.

Several names have since been linked with the post, including Mick McCarthy, who held talks with the Forest board yesterday afternoon. However, following those discussions, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss decided to rule himself out of the running for the City Ground vacancy.

That has led some to link Keane with the job and solicitor Michael Kennedy has admitted that his client would strongly consider a return to his former club.

"As far as I know, he has not been approached and he has not applied for the job. But I haven't spoken to him about it so I wouldn't know for sure," Kennedy told Press Association Sport. "I can understand why people would link him with the job, being an old Forest player, but I don't know if he is in the running for it.

"I thought it was Mick McCarthy until yesterday. Or perhaps Glenn Hoddle, according to some reports.

"But what I can say is that I think Roy would be interested if he was approached. He is available and I think it would be a job that would appeal to him."

Keane has been out of work since leaving Ipswich Town in January 2011.
