Former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy rules himself out of the running for the vacant managerial post at Nottingham Forest.

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy has ruled himself out of the running for the vacant managerial post at Nottingham Forest.

The 53-year-old was expected to be named Forest's new boss after he held talks with their new owners the Al-Hasawi family, but the meeting has reportedly broken down.

Forest had hoped to have McCarthy on board with his proven track record in the Championship, after guiding Wolves and Sunderland to the Premier League.

Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson and former Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane are now thought to be among the leading contenders.
