Moussa Sissoko: 'I will only leave Newcastle United for first-team football'

Moussa Sissoko admits that he would like to leave Newcastle United in search of Champions League football, but only if he is guaranteed a starting spot elsewhere.

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko has admitted that he is open to a move away from the club this summer in order to play Champions League football.

The 25-year-old, who joined the Magpies from Toulouse in 2013, has been strongly linked with a switch to Chelsea in recent weeks.

Sissoko hinted earlier this month that he may remain in place at St James' Park, although with one eye on France's Euro 2016 campaign in 12 months' time, he is eager to make another step up in his career.

"With a year to go until the Euros, you mustn't change clubs and then find yourself on the bench," he told Le Parisien. "At the same time, I want to play for one of the biggest clubs.

"I would notably like to play in the Champions League, which I can't do at Newcastle. One day or another, my time will come. In any case, I see myself staying in England."

Sissoko started 34 of Newcastle's 38 Premier League games last season.
