Rob Lee concerned Newcastle United signing Florian Thauvin could flop

Rob Lee questions whether Newcastle United's new signing Florian Thauvin will be able to handle the physicality of the Premier League.

Former Newcastle United midfielder Rob Lee has revealed concerns that new signing Florian Thauvin will not be able to cut it in the Premier League.

The winger officially joined the Magpies from Marseille on a five-year deal on Wednesday.

Following the news that Remy Cabella has gone to Marseille on a season-long loan as part of the deal, Lee has questioned whether Thauvin could be as much of a "lightweight" as the man that he is replacing.

"From what I hear, he definitely has the pace to make it in the Premier League but can he handle the physical side?" the Daily Star quotes Lee as saying.

"Remy Cabella certainly couldn't. He was a bit of a lightweight and just didn't get going. I hope Thauvin is a success but he's not proven in the Premier League and that is always a worry."

Newcastle have spent almost £50m on players so far this summer.
