Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has admitted that he would consider playing Hatem Ben Arfa in an advanced role again following his solid performance against Anzhi Makhachkala.
The Frenchman returned to action in Russia following a two-month lay-off with a hamstring injury in the Magpies' 0-0 draw.
Pardew told the Daily Mail: "Hatem lasted longer than I thought and did well given he is not fit.
"I have thought about using him there before because if I was a centre-back he is the last person I would want to see with the ball at his feet. And I would certainly consider it again."
The teams will meet again in the second leg at St James' Park on March 14.
